IQ FireWatch is an early fire detection system designed to recognize smoke and heat 24/7.
Originally designed for space, the patented technology was first created for the Brandenburg forest, Germany, in the late 1990s and early 2000s when labor laws had changed and human fire spotting was no longer an option. In 2012, IQ FireWatch and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) were inducted into the US American Space Foundation’s Hall of Fame as the first foreign technology to ever receive this esteemed award. IQ FireWatch is a multi-spectral sensor which can be perfectly calibrated for most regions and operating conditions. The system has specifically been created for the detection of wildfires but is continuously optimized for wildland-urban/-industrial interfaces (WUI) as well as industrial areas. Today, IQ FireWatch sensors protect more than 24 million hectares of forest on 4 continents.
